what is the proper way to handle a traffic stop?
I was just wondering what your guys opinions are to which you handle a traffic stop while CC. I assume there are several different ways to go about it but the same ideals should be there i hope. If anyone would like to shed some light on this i would really appreciate it .
BTW sorry if this is a repost, i searched for a bit and couldn't find exactly what i was looking for

Do you go around telling everyone that you're CCing? In PA, there is no duty to inform an officer that you're carrying. Actually, this is general rule when talking to the police. Never offer more info than you need to.
A different story if you're about to get arrested.

Re: what is the proper way to handle a traffic stop?
thanks for the input so far, just a question tho: why does it seem like what you guys are telling me is the opposite of what you should do? maybe im crazy or watched to many youtube videos or something but it just seems like you should be upfront about it.

Re: what is the proper way to handle a traffic stop?
Interesting that you say it is the opposite of what you should do.
Here is a list of posts that Streaker69 has compiled to show what is happening to people to do say they are carrying:
http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.ph...98#post1862698
In case it doesn't take you exactly to the right post, it is post 103 in that thread. (the number of posts per page you have in your settings can be different)
If you read those posts, you can see that some people have had negative consequences for telling an officer they are carrying.
Edit: Hey Streaker, have you considered making your list a sticky? That would make it a lot easier to find when needed.

Just don't tell the cop you have dog in the car...or even at home...

Re: what is the proper way to handle a traffic stop?
A State cop told us, "if asked to exit the vehicle and you think your gun may print, tell the cop that, " to avoid an awkward situation, I'm carrying."

Re: what is the proper way to handle a traffic stop?
There are just too many variables to have a ONE best way to handle a traffic stop as the motorist. Try and think of scenarios that you may encounter and have a general idea of how to act.
For the most part keeping your documents separate from your firearm is a good start. I probably wouldn't mention my carry unless I anticipated being asked to step out of the car.
If you wish to inform the officer, may I suggest this:
While in the Academy we were taught a little about delivering death notifications. The instruction was to NOT come right out and tell someone that their loved one was deceased but to lead them into to saying it first.
What I'm getting at is, don't come right out and say "I GOT A GUN". If you want, tell them "here's my driver's license, here is my LTCF, and here is my registration & proof of insurance". Let the Officer determine if he wants to know more about your LTCF.
Hope that's helpful"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"
