Default Say I wanted to testmy SHTF Gear, can I do it on Game lands?

I was just looking to try out my bug out bag and some of the regular supplies I have in the basement. Can I legally do it on game lands? What if I wanted to do it with my one of my firearms? I do have my LTCF, can I only bring my CCW? How about a bolt action? My semi?

Could this only be done with an actual firearm during hunting season? In which case I realize I would not want to be out hiking and camping.

Or would I be better off just finding someone with 100 acres and camping on their property with permission for a weekend?

    NO........

Game Lands are for hunting and training dogs......

They are not state rec. areas.....

If by test you mean camping, then no you can't. Camping outside a designated camping area is not allowed on PGC game lands. Camping can be done in the state forest though (has some restrictions too).

Camping not allowed in SGLs. Your best bet is a state forest. No permit required for primitive camping as long as you don't spend more than 1 night in a given spot. From Lehigh co. you might want to checkout the Delaware SF. I've done some "primitive trekking" there, and once you get away from the trails (assuming deer/bear season is not open), you will have no problem finding privacy.

But you may not be able to shoot, outside of season, in the state forest.

    Excellent advice guys. Thanks!

So I can carry firearms but no shooting? But I can carry a rifle and pistol? Does the rifle have to be bolt or can it be semi? Thats fine with me. I just wanted to see how I could manage the weight of a full pack for three days/ two nights.

    Fire restrictions or anything?

go to the DCNR web-site to look up all the rules for use of state forests

you can carry any firearm within the law. (hint - coyote season is open basically year round and is one of the few game aniamals you can hunt on Sundays.......so if you have a hunting license and are carrying a weapon legal for coyotes (no semi autos) then you have a valid excuse for an occasional shot or 2........for the record I am not condoning target shooting in the state forest)

Fire restrictions are posted regionally by the DCNR. you can check the DCNR web-site to see current restrictions.

if you are carrying a rifle it will be very hard to convince someone you aren't hunting... pistol you'll be fine
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
