mossberg 500 recoil reducing stock
has anyone here compared recoil reducing stocks for the mossberg 500 12 gauge? i am looking to buy one in the near future. the standard synthetic stock that it came with really made my shoulder throb after 3 rounds of skeet. also, it could help my wife get into trap/skeet as she can only handle about 5 shots from it before she is done. a stock would help me out and might have to save me from getting a 20 gauge for the wife to use.

MossbergOwners.com, they have done reviews of all kinds of recoil reducing stocks, it's a good forum, plenty of help, just like this forum.
Government 99 and 44/100 % pure bullshit.

Re: mossberg 500 recoil reducing stock
I put the Knoxx stock on my mossy 2 years ago and I love it. 00 feels like #8. I shot it all day for 2 zombie matches and a steel match at Topton so they were over 50 rds each and no issues.

Toss one of these on there and use lighter loads.

I have one on my traditionally stocked 500, and it's a definite improvement over the original pad. I also have a slip on AR-style limbsaver pad on the home defense 500, which has an ATI sliding stock (non recoil reducing). That one is less thick than the bolt on one, but it's better than the piece of hard rubber that came with the ATI stock. Some people (including Nutnfancy, for whatever that's worth) report that the Knoxx stock uncomfortably transmits forces upwards, into the operator's cheek, especially when adjusted to shorter lengths. I think you're better off at least trying a limbsaver first instead of completely changing out the style of stock you use, especially if you're overall happy with the fit and operation of it as it is. Be warned, though, I had to alter the backplate of the limbsaver pad to get it to fit on my Mossberg's synthetic stock. The mounting holes are more like slots, and I had to elongate one of the slots.

i was actually thinking about changing the look. not sure how a tactical type stock would work for trap/skeet despite the long barrel i have on it. i don't see many people using them kind of stocks for trap/skeet.
