Thumbs up AF Boyer Hardware in Slatington

Today I went in after work to pick up my new Taurus TCP that I bought off Gunbroker and a couple of boxes of .380 auto (they have a nice ammo selection).

On my way back to the parking lot, I realized that I locked my keys in the car! I asked the man at the cash register if there were any tools in the store that I could use. He said he wasn't sure but that Allan (the owner) used to be an expert locksmith.

I went up to Allan and he said he'd take a look. He grabbed a long, flat piece of metal with a hook on the end of it and went to work. After a couple minutes of jiggling, he popped my door open. I shook his hand and told him that he kicks ass.

I will be doing all my future gun shopping and transfers at AF Boyer.

Those guys are amazing. If you are ever invited to their back room you should sprint! Rows of long arms. Everything you could imagine plus an entire rack of parts for pistols!

I was in Cabela's, and this guy and I started talking about prices. He told me about Boyer's Hardware and how good their prices are. Unfortunately, this place is not close to me.

My wife bought me a Mosin Nagant for Christmas. She didn't know anything about them so she brought me along to pick it out. We went to A.F. Boyer and they took me to the back room ...

    whoa ...

I wound up getting a 1891/30 made in 1939 but captured during the Winter War by the Finnish Army. $100.

I'd like to go back into that room some time and browse if I could.

The service I've gotten there has always been fantastic. Their transfers are relatively inexpensive as well: $25 for pistols, $20 for long guns IIRC. Every time I've done a transfer through them they've called me when it arrived. Most places I've talked about about transfers won't do that.

Be forewarned about 2 things though:

    1) They can get REALLY busy on a lot of days and can't even answer the phone.
    2) No NICS/PICS checks 45 minutes before closing or later. Around 45 minutes before closing they shut off the machines they use for checks. So if you are going there to pick up a transfer or looking to buy a gun, remember to subtract 45 minutes from their closing time and think of THAT as the real closing time.

Regarding gun prices, some of their prices are "meh" but on a large number of occasions I've seen absolute steals. For example the other day I saw a 6 inch stainless steel Ruger GP-100 for $399. If I didn't already own a GP-100 I would have bought it.

Anyway, yeah, AF Boyer is awesome.

1 week ago. It was more than $600... maybe in the $650 range. I know for sure it was in the 600's though lol.

Knowing them it's gone now. Soooooo tempting to go anyway to see.

    I have 2 choices:

    1) Get a practice session in at Ontelaunee for the Run and Gun match on Sunday
    OR
    2) Go to AF Boyer in hopes that they still have that Kimber

    crap. crap. crap.

Took a trip to Boyer's today. It's been years since I've been there. Still has a good selection and a lot of nice and hard to find guns. A couple of Lugers, military surplus rifles and a crap load of shotguns and decent prices. Thought about picking up the little cricket .22 for the kids at $139.00. Maybe later.

My only gripe is how small the shop area is and when people are there it's practically impossible to see what's in the cases.
