Default AR-15 20 round mag. reliability question: straight vs. curved

I only have straight 20 round mags (old USGI stuff) that work fine but I'm thinking of adding a couple to the stash. My question is: are the straight bodied versions more reliable than the newer curved mags, or does it even matter?

I'd prefer to only buy once. Thanks!

I prefer straight 20*s and never had an issue with them. Okay no longer in business so not sure if anyone is making them anymore. I have some curved pmags and lancer*s as well and never had any issues with these either.
    Today was a good day!

I have straight Colt metal 20 rounders. I love them at the range, never a problem. Literally cannot think of ever having a problem spanning multiple years.

Well, I ordered a single Pmag to test and also ordered new springs for my old straight 20 rounders. This way I can refurbish my old reliable mags and see how the newfangled mags work, too. Thanks for the input.

You live in a state that allows more capacity why limit to 20 round mags.. That being said I have used 20 round Magpuls when using a bipod with no problems

20s are convenient from the bench or prone. To each their own.

I made a separate thread about a Specter Gear spare magazine carrier that fits the buttstock of a Magpul stock equipped AR15. They fit the 20 rounders only. I really am digging this thing and have ordered a second one. That's what got me thinking about the reliability of the 20 round mags. I'm just trying not to spend money needlessly I guess.

I have plenty of 30 round mags and store the carbine with a 20 rounder in the carrier and a 30 rounder inserted in the gun, chamber empty though. Kind of a 'grab and go' gun.

I have a bunch of Vietnam era 20 rnd. mags I bought at the Englishtown flea market in nj. back around *79 or 1980. They were single wrapped in a plastic bag. Instructions printed on use in Vietnamese on one side and engrish on the other.

Wish I had kept the bags. They have worked fine since I bought them. Very convenient for the range. Fwiw, they*ve been loaded and kept in 7 pocket bandoliers of the era ever since purchase.

I don*t think there is any difference. Have both, both work just fine.
