Black & Brass Coffee Company? Hmmmm?
I do remember stories of muslim groups wanting to shut down BBQ joints due to the wonderful smell of smoked swine.
Coffee is an agricultural product, I would assume roasting is part of the farm to table process. The state has ag preemption laws, very similar to gun preemption laws, that prevent a municipality from regulating food production, both animal and crop. Would make an interesting argument in their favor...
There is a back story to this guy...I know the person and the place. He was on the township board for a brief time...he didn't do well at making friends or making people like him. Especially his employees, or the town in general. I am not a patron...But I do not like the fact that they are rolling him over...could just as easily be any one of us, heck, even me.
But I was raised with the statement of if you can't something nice....yada yada yada.
In their zoning ordinances, they do have a clear definition of "light manufacturing" that lists coffee roasting, right?
