Anyone have a range report yet for today? Hows turnout, deals, etc?

Sorry for the late reply. I went yesterday afternoon. Crowd size was decent, not swarming but not empty.

Vendors were in three rooms. Given the size of the show, there were a disproportionate number of PROC knives, Stun guns, spring billies, tees, flags and ( of course) jerkey dealers. I thought that a smaller show might cut down on their numbers... Nahhhh!

I saw no real bargains amongst the firearms dealers. Plenty of Turkish- made new stuff, plenty of CCW Tupperware,, odds and sods in old military and hunting rifles, old shotguns... none at a price that I considered worthwhile.

I was looking for Cowboy-action pistols and shotguns. Found one dealer dedicated to the field, but the prices seemed to be straight retail. I'm new to the field, and will do my homework, but I didn't feel compelled to buy.

Looked at a used Henry small-game .22 . The price was $40.00 under new, and the seller was solid on price ... Pass.

The ammunition dealers were ridiculous. Within the past week, I bought the same brand, caliber, etc at a LGS for less money. I asked one for a price on a case of no-name .38 Special, and followed up by asking if the quote was in American dollars. How do these rapacious b*st*rds sleep at night?

One custom holster maker without premade stock, one dealer with high- priced, limited option Kydex, and the usual assortment of generic nylon OSFA.

I won't avoid, but I won't hurry back.

I popped in both days for a bit since it was along the way. Some stuff to be had, about the usual for this show. Helps to be a repeat offender with your favorite vendors. :D

Oaks will be better, and probably net the items i need that i couldnt find.
