Yep the thing with an AWB is the definition of AW is arbitrary. They can make one definition, then say a "compliant" gun is exploiting a loophole, then try to change the definition to make it noncompliant the next time around.

Suppose a AR was 'modified' so that it was no longer a 'assault rifle'. Specifically
- fixed stock
- an upper that is converted to pump action (do not even have gas port on the barrel)
All my magazines only hold 7 or 10 rounds anyway (458 SOCOM).
Or, do think that the gubmint would redefine constructive intent.
EDIT
The key would be converting to pump. Most 'assault rifle' bans/restrictions target semi-autos. Do no believe that the lower receiver is registered as a semi (someone correct me if I am wrong). So if convert it to a manual firearm, do not have to 'turn it in' because it is not longer an 'assualt rifle'. The upper is unregistered, so you can keep it, just not on lower. Kind of pistol upper/rifle lower...
Wouldn't it be better to get rid of those that make these kinds of laws rather than play games modifying a functioning firearm? The founders expressly intended us to use the tools they gave us to do so.

In 2016 I heard a president say how he was going to build a big beautiful wall at the border and have Mexico pay for it. He also said that it was the end of Obama care should he get elected. Didn't work out so well did it.
Ok. I'm sitting here complaining.
Please list the ways you have implemented to minimize or repel the damage.
I anxiously await your ideas. I've been in this fight for 50 years.
Re: AR modifications to turn them into 'non assault' rifles
I can see things going the other way, if they ban ar's in current config and treat them as NFA, i could imagine lots of people 3d printing / milling drop in auto sears.....

This is what they want to help them more efficiently melt them into Biden statues.

Does this apply to bodyguards?

OP, I am sorry. I know I'm being a dick, but the country is on the verge of burning to the ground, and you are wondering about complying with hypothetical what if's. Hell Biden has already stated that he wants to add your MSR (Modern Sporting Rifle) to the NFA.
