Once the bullet engraves rifling, side pressure is pretty low, and it is metal softer than steel. But I will confess I don*t have hard data.

Stainless brushes will often scratch the shit out of barrel steel. Hard chrome barrels will probably take it without a problem- at least for a while.
Nitride barrels probably will too but why risk it? bronze is all you need.
I cant imagine the amount of force used to push the chamber brush through the bore, one should know in an instant they are doing something wrong. Pro tip..next time use only the first section (with the handle) of the USGI cleaning rod or a pistol length rod when using the chamber brush
I would not worry, If you think the bore is scratched try some brownells bore lapping compound, or I have used 0000 steel wool ( wrapped around a bronze brush) and lapping compound on some very rough milsurp bores with good results to shine up the roughness
This is the exact star chamber brush I used.
Not sure if the white bristles are bronze or steel.

There is no way to get a chamber brush through the barrel without a hammer.
Chock it up to a learning experience and move on. A scratch in the bore from cleaning supplies isn't going to make it unsafe, honestly you won't even notice any accuracy difference.
I am shocked you got that thing through the barrel honestly. I've had to get creative with oversized patches before.
Probably didn't do anything terribly serious though unless you're a talking some uber high end long range precision barrel. As others said, chf/ chrome or nitride you likely won't notice a difference shooting. It'll just get dirty a bit quicker.
99 bucks will get you a shooter and 250 bucks will get you one hell of a barrel though, so don't sweat it too hard. They're made to be replaced.
