How do you store your ammo?
Just curious how people are storing their ammo.
I used to just leave them in boxes/cases. I still have some ammo stored like this.
But lately I've taken to 30 caliber cans. Fill them with boxed or bagged ammo and put a few packs of silica gel in.
I do have 2 cans with loose ammo in them. I'm not really excited about this. I feel like this may be inviting moisture to become trapped between ammo and the can. Hopefully not. Maybe at some later date I'll line the can with a bag that can breathe.
One mildly frustrating thing I've discovered is that not all military cans are the same. Some have bumps in the bottom of the metal can so your boxed ammo won't sit flat.

All real .50cal boxes should have the indentation on the bottom so that they stack properly.
Re: How do you store your ammo?
I just keep mine in boxes, been wondering if I should transfer everything to Ammo cans.
Re: How do you store your ammo?
I recently converted from bags to ammo cans, mostly 40mm cans. Boy, do they get heavy! I kept most of my stuff in their original boxes too, which I know takes up more space.
They seal up nicely and I keep them out of humid areas.

That makes perfect sense actually. Makes me wonder why they all aren't like that?

Re: How do you store your ammo?
Mostly ammo cans with desiccant packets. Some of the long term stuff is sealed shut with silicone instead of the gasket.
Re: How do you store your ammo?
If I had any, I'd dump it loose into ammo cans.
Re: How do you store your ammo?
Empty protein powder cans (plastic)
Re: How do you store your ammo?
loose in 50 cal cans stacked deep.
No issues.
Re: How do you store your ammo?
Surplus ammo cans for anything not intended to be used at the range within a year.
No OCD extra steps taken - original boxes placed into can. Done.
Nobody is going to convince me that the boxes are detrimental, or that silica packs make a difference.
So long as I have it in a can that is airtight, that's all I care about because I think even THAT is going beyond what is needed.
