Need to borrow Torque Screwdriver
Hey guys,
I'm getting my new Savage .308 this weekend and would like to borrow a torque screwdriver to tighten the optics/base down to spec.
Would anyone be willing to help me out?
I'm in the Pittsburgh area and would be willing to travel up to an hour away.
Thanks in advance!

I'm an hour away if you can't find one closer. I'mm be riding the bike to Murrysville on Sunday of the weather holds.

Havoc, I hope this helps. When I was a Master Jaguar Technician, at the factory school they taught us that a bolt reaches it's maximum torque 20 degrees before it breaks. So, the proper method to attain max torque would be, slowly tighten the bolt until it snaps, then slowly back it off 20 degrees.
Give it a try and post your results back here, mmmmmkay?
For the record, :) Smiley face! Right there, does everybody see it? It means I'm joking!
PS: I don't have one or i'd offer it to you.
Re: Need to borrow Torque Screwdriver
Any decent mechanic or transmission shop should have a torque wrench good to 45 inch pounds. You'll need to re-torque them again any way.
Re: Need to borrow Torque Screwdriver
I don't know the status of a Cabela's near you, but I got this torque screwdriver from there when I couldn't find any such thing anyplace else, and it worked like a charm:

It was 50$ or something, and well worth every cent.
Or, barring that or a loaner from someone here, see if there's a motorcycle repair or dealer in your town. I was told that would be my best bet if I hadn't found that FAT wrench at Cabela's. See if they'll lend you a torque screwdriver or rent you one or maybe they sell them there.

Cheap just need to pick up a adapter to put on driver bits.

Re: Need to borrow Torque Screwdriver
Does he need a
A) TORX screw driver for torx head screws
B) TORQUE wrench, as in foot lbs
I've never heard of a torque screw driver, but then again, there is a first time for everything.
Re: Need to borrow Torque Screwdriver
He needs a torque screwdriver........the Wheeler FAT wrench is what many of us use.
