Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
I can't believe I'm doing this, but here it is...
Fettuccine with Creamy Tomato & Italian Sausage Sauce (and my Colt Pony .380ACP)
The fixins...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3926.jpg
The secret is having everything ready to work with ahead of time...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3929.jpg
Shallots, garlic, hot Italian sausage, and whipping cream simmer while the tomatoes (and Pony) wait...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3931.jpg
Mmmmm... smells SO good. Almost ready for the diced tomatoes...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3932.jpg
A taste of Italy and some American steel...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3933.jpg
Oh yeahhh... enter the diced tomatoes. Simmer away baby!
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3935.jpg
If you've ever wondered what a shallot is, that's one on the right...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3936.jpg
Add the cooked fettuccine, stir to coat, and simmer a few more minutes...
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3941.jpg
That's MY plate! Back the fu¢k off!!!
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3944.jpg
Top with a little Parmesan cheese. ENJOY!!!
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/104_3945.jpg
:)
This recipe is FANTASTIC!
I can't thank dc dalton enough for posting the recipe.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Damn you EM, now I'm hungry!!
Great pictures, great meal, and a great little gun.
With a meal that good, you might want to protect it with something a little bigger than with a .380acp!!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Sounds delicious! I may have to make this for the guys at the firehouse.
We have the same plates in the second pic here at home!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Glad you like it EM .... it has become a staple in this house. Making it tonight but the frigging local store didn't have fettuccine so I'm going to have to make it with Linguine ... oh well should be just as good.

Looks good!
Random question: Where can I find Uncle Charlie's Sausage for sale? I haven't seen it in any Giant Eagle around here.

I just made this today. Lewis's had fettuccine, bought 2 boxes. they didn't have any fresh italian sausage though( just frozen stuff ), only regular, so I used italian seasoning.
man is this recipe great!...and filling!
thanks

This was an impromptu photo shoot. I was more interested in eating, than setting up side dishes. ;) We made toast, but w/o the garlic - I like garlic in the food, but not so much on toast.

I don't know if you want my cooking or my Pony... I'll have to think about that.

Go for it. It's really very easy to prepare.
The wife and I get 2 meals out of it, if that helps you calculate how much to make.
Funny. I wondered if anyone would comment on the plate pattern. good old Corellware Ivy pattern. It doesn't match the new, blue and white kitchen, but that's OK.

Honestly, I don't know if Giant Eagle carries it.
I usually get it at the Wilkins Twp. Shop n Save. They have the typical sausages, as well as the patties. (I swear I've seen it packaged like ground beef as well) The patties are easy to break into bits.
They also carry Uncle Charley's at Kuhns.
W-mart may have it too. I know they sell the UC breakfast links.
Note: Don't bother with that 1/2 mild and 1/2 hot nonsense in the recipe - use all HOT sausage.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Well I made this again tonight but had to use linguine instead of fettuccine (POS local store doesn't carry it) ... still good but the linguine doesn't hold up well to the cooking and sauce.
Have to stock up on fettuccine next time I hit a 'real' grocery store

Yup that's what I did tonight and you couldn't even notice the difference!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Ahhhh... sitting here burping up sausage right now. :D
We had the leftovers as a late dinner. I was wrong about the portions... we each had two healthy portions (yesterday & today) and there is enough for me to have a serving for lunch tomorrow. :)
I also had a thought regarding the 3/4 lb of fettuccine that the recipe calls for.
The boxes contains 1 lb, so rather than only using a partial box, I'm going to cook the whole, 1 lb. box of pasta next time, and add about 1/2 - 3/4 cup extra whipping cream, and 1 more can of petite diced tomatoes to give it some extra sauce. The 1 lb of sausage is plenty already, so no need to add more of that.
Oooh... excuse me. :o
(smacks lips)
Mmmm... hawt sawsagez!
:D

Yup, I found the 3/4 pound of pasta was too little and went to a full pound ... better mix of sauce / pasta
Oh and I'm burping up the same OMFG sausage right now .. damn near as good the second time around isn't it? ;)
Oh and BTW ... I have found you do NOT need whipping cream. Heavy cream works the exact same and since the local * cough cough * grocery store doesn't carry whipping cream I have started using that

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Well, I know what I'm having for dinner.
Hey EM, think your pony will come stand guard in my kitchen?
-
Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Looks good! +10 points for a excellent start to finish presentation!
I had Fettuccine with chicken and broccoli covered with a light white sauce, but I didn't get any photos. It was good though!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Nice dinner and nice protection! Makin' me hungry!

Well now we know why dc couldn't find any, you bought the last boxes.
Oh, and their helpers are idiots (Lewis's). They wouldn't know what fettuccine is unless it was rammed up their asses. I had a feeling it was just a stupid kid that had no idea what he was talking about.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
this thread reminds me of the ones one of our members used to post, cant remember her name and haven't seen her around lately. looks good though.:) p.s. is it gravy or sauce;)

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Thanks dc dalton and emptymag for the recipe. I've made it twice now it was so good. One of those times my dad was over for dinne and asked where I got the recipe and I told him I got it from my gun owners forum I'm always on. PAFOA has it all!!!!!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
This looks delicious!!! I know what I'm making next time I go grocery shopping.
I grew up with those same ivory plates. Now we have some weird square things that don't fit in the microwave right :(
-
Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Changed it up a little but it was great!
Thanks for posting the link to the recipe!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Guess what I made for dinner this evening?
;)
We didn't have shallots on hand (I mean who the frick DOES?), so I just cheated and used garlic powder, minced garlic, and onion powder with a little "Tomato Basil Garlic" Mrs. Dash seasoning.
It was faster since I didn't have to chop/saute the shallots, and tasted almost as good.
Nom Nom Nom

It would be better with "Rigatoni". Not that I am born and raised Italian mind you. And it should be protected by a Beretta. :-)

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
If we have "hot sausage", it has to be Uncle Charlies. Of course, in Erie, that means a special trip to Giant Eagle....

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
I'd be happy to bring over another half dozen Colt 1911s to help with security if you're of a mind to share the grub... Looks wonderful. (We just had Mediterranean mussels over penne last night.) You just can't go wrong with good Italian food!

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
I'm about to get out the leftovers for tonight's meal.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Haha. I still make this to this day. The family loves it as do I.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
I just noticed how old the thread it.
I'll have to try out the recipe. I've made similar.

I posted another one more recently with this dish and my AK47. Couldn't find it so I bumped this one.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Made it last night. Suvved a regular red onion for shallots and added in the tomatoes sooner to cook them more into a saucy consistency with the onions and sausage, but the end result looked the same as your pics, and tasted great. Kids loved it too.
Also added one additional ingredient, some diced green bell pepper.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
Green pepper! Ick!
The local Chinese takeout knows me as the "no green peppah" guy.
I don't even have to say it - they beat me to it when I place my order. lol
Glad you enjoyed it. I've always been a tomato sauce kind of guy - never deviated from it. This is just so tasty and relatively simple and economical to make, and it tastes like something you'd get in a restaurant.

I didn't even have to shop for anything...had everything I needed in the pantry and freezer already. One of those "throw things we have in a pot" meals that works out awesomely.

Re: Fettuccine with a Side Order of Pony (meal protection)
That really looks good. I will have to try it. I am a decent cook especily Italian food. I was raised Italian.
