I live close to the Maryland border. Is it possible to get a Non-Resident Concealed carry permit?
Yep, I hold one but absent actual, documented threats, the only way you'd get one is for business purposes. If you want to discuss, give the office a call.
Run for constable of your township/borough.
Check out the mdshooters.com forum. Lots of good info there.
There no such thing in MD as a non-resident permit. They have a permit, regardless of your residence.
Basically getting one for protection is impossible. If you own a business and transport money or expensive equipment in MD then you can probably get one.
You might be able to get one to protect business assets and cash. But to protect yourself and your family, don*t hold your breath. There was a small window in time when they had a handgun permit review board that was reversing a lot of the state police refusals for permits, but the Annapolis elite could not have that going on, so they did away with that.
+1 on the MD Shooters forum.
you'd have better luck squeezing blood from a stone.
Edit: As others have said, if you have a business that deals with cash, you may be able to get one.
Thanks for the information folks. It looks like ccw is near impossible to get.
This.
I lived in MD for over 40 years. They are not obtainable unless you own a business AND carry cash AND can prove you carry cash. And then it's a hassle to get it and it takes forever. They have been known to just sit on applications forever.
But most politicians in Maryland (who are 100% anti gun) have carry permits without carrying cash or owning businesses. They are your moral superiors and will be glad to tell you that. Congressman Dutch Rupersburger of Maryland had a handgun in his carry one bag at BWI airport some years back. Post 9/11 too. He was simply asked to give it to someone to take home. He votes lock step with the gun grabbers.
Honestly your best bet is to home SCOTUS knocks down New York's 'may issue' permitting process on 2A grounds which would make Maryland a 'shall issue' state as well. But even with a SCOTUS decision I GUARANTEE Maryland would sue claiming the SCOTUS ruling on NY didn't apply to MD for some insane reason.
Sort of , but changed in Nov 2919 .
Firstly , Non Residents treated the same as Residents .
Since late 2019 , simply being the Owner of a business on the face of it results in Unrestricted W&C Permit . No longer issues about amounts of cash , value of equipment or merchandise , on call status , etc .
Business ( brick & mortar ) doesn't have to be Md , just has to Do Business in Md . Expect to upon request by the assigned Investigator to document that you actually do business , and that some is in Md .
Unless Veteran ,or certain firearms instructors , 16 hr specific Training class required .
Does this suck compared to Free America ? Yup .Is doubling the number of Permits in last 5 years a positive step ? Also Yup.
