Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
The 'floating chamber' of the Colt Ace or .22 conversion kit for the 1911 was designed and purported to simulate the recoil of the .45 ACP version. I have one , and while recoil does seem to be somewhat harder than a .22 should be in a pistol this size/weight , it's not quite the same as a full-power .45 , IMO.
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
See above - trigger time - regardless of recoil is what's important - you want to be be able to place those .22's right where you are aiming - if you don't have a problem with flinching, this will help show proper grip and trigger squeeze. When I had my .45 and conversion unit I always shot a bunch of .22 first, then may 2 of those things that hold the boolets (clips? Mags? jk ;0 ) of .45 after - my groups got better with the .45 .
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
IMO you get the most recoil from the pistols with the lightweight aluminum slides like the SR22, PPQ22, Firefly ect.
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
The lightest gun with no buffering system, like a bolt-action single-shot pistol with a short barrel to save weight. And use the heaviest .22 bullets available.
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
The Walther P22 weighs 17 oz and is a blowback design.

Did they ever sort out that cracking slide thing? I know we are going back like a decade.

Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
Not much, even a tiny little Beretta 71 doesn't have all that much recoil. If you want hard recoil for cheap, then try going to black powder pistols. Messy as hell, but a nice thump on those.
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
Well.
Wife and i had a Taurus PT22, the beretta bobcat clone.
Damn thing had near as much recoil as my pocket 9mms.
Further proof of this was the 2 different sets of grips that it broke while firing the gun. A gorgeous set of rosewood, and a set of plastic/nylon fake pearl/ivory kinda things.
Re: High recoil 22lr pistol?
I found the Sig Mosquito had significant recoil. It ran best with CCI minimags and would have trouble cycling sometimes with lesser ammo.

Sure, take the easy way and rely on physics. :)
