All I can say is while tied up pier side at Gibraltar, we got into a friendly drinking contest with a few of them at the base pub. We were holding our own till one of us stupid jarheads mentioned how gay it was to have a queen, they handed us our asses and at the time we were world class drinkers. I think we were halfway across the Mediterranean before recovering from the hangover
they train and fight like they drink !
I was talking to a Brit one time and I had 2 questions. What is this "Queen' business all about and when were they going to start speaking proper English. Bonnet my ass, it's a hood!
As the story goes, some USMC were hosting a unit of Royal Marines for joint exercises, and as NCOs do they gathered themselves of both flavors at the base NCO club for serious discussion. The talk ranged all manner of subjects, and eventually centered on military IDs, some of which were presented and compared. One of the USMC boys was examining the ID of one of the Royal Marine lads, set down the tan crayon stub he was chewing, and asked, "What's this RM stand for?" "Real Marines," replied the lad.

It was elite force vs regular marines, not exactly a fair fight. Put them up against navy seals and it might be a bit different.
Royal Marines are the UK's regular marines. The equivalent of Navy Seals is the SBS (Special Boat Service). Army special forces are SAS (Special Air Service).
The USMC will evaluate what happened and adapt. UK military holds them and all other US military in high regard.
