Group Messaging for Monday- Signal Chat
For Monday, in addition to radio comms we can create a group chat on Signal. It is a free app, secure and available here:
https://signal.org/download/
It is for instant messaging.
Send me a PM with your contact information -Real Name, user name, and number and I will send you my contact info.
Once you have it installed send me a message with signal and I can add you to contacts and then to the PA2A chat.
To see people's names and not just a number, you have to add them to your contacts or use the menu in the upper right side of signal
Re: Group Messaging for Monday- Signal Chat
Several of us have already exchanged numbers for calls and SMS. What's the advantage of using this instead?
Re: Group Messaging for Monday- Signal Chat
It's encrypted end to end. It's how I'm communicating with our security team.

Signal is encrypted and is widely believed to be secure.
Re: Group Messaging for Monday- Signal Chat
Oh and it uses your standard number. It basically replaces your stock unsecure phone messenger. It's a secure SMS/MMS.

I already have a different (non-stock) app that I use. Not interested in a replacement. How does the app handle messages coming in from "non-secure" users (like me)?
Re: Group Messaging for Monday- Signal Chat
Ok you're certainly free to not change. It's just a secure app and a suggestion. We have a secure group set up. They're simply not encrypted.

It doesn't work unless both ends are signal. Encrypted end to end.
The advantage is you can create a group. This is what we use for our III% comms.
