turning a pistol into an SBR questions
OK, so I just got a vector arms/ group industries Uzi pistol with 10 inch barrel. I dont have much into it and I was wondering if I could form 1 it into an SBR by adding a folding stock to it. that being said, would I need to engrave the pistol with my info? or could I keep its original markings as I didn't technically manufacture it. Im an 01 FFL and im sure I can simply form 1 this but I dont want to ruin it by adding engraving info that isn't original to the pistol. any help with clarification is appreciated. thanks!
Re: turning a pistol into an SBR questions
Yes. It needs engraved with the makers name ( your name or company/trust name), city and state on the reciever.
You are the manufacturer of the SBR. So you get to have your name engraved.
Vector is just the Manufacturer of the pistol.

BTDT.
In a nutshell, you "manufacture" the SBR by the act of installing the stock when in fact you perform that action, so as such the SBR must comply with the marking requirements. You have the option of marking the barrel or receiver, and since Uzi barrels are relatively cheap that's the part that I personally would engrave. That's what I elected to engrave when I built my AR SBR like 15 yrs ago.

You can also engrave the bottom of the receiver so it is hard to notice and covered when the stock is collapsed.
