Don't do that.
Pistols can't have vertical front grips, ever since the Brady weasels saw an episode of "Miami Vice" that made them wet their panties because people were using scary guns with 2 grips, so they had their friends at ATF rule that "pistols don't have vertical front grips, so if you add one, you made an illegal AOW".
A rifle can have one. An SBR can have one, because it's an NFA rifle. A MAC-10 SMG can have one, too. But until your pistol is amnesty registered, it better not have one.
It's not a grip, it's a free speech statement...

How does a hand stop on the rail factor into that equation? It's not a grip, it's just a curved piece of plastic meant as a stop to avoid your hand getting a hole through it.

A hand stop is no more a forward grip than it is an ironing board.

Whew, that was a close one! I thought you were going to say something like 'a hand stop is no more a forward grip than a man can be pregnant.'
Re: ATF Just Released Their Brace Ruling
You can put a vertical forward grip on your pistol that has an OAL >26". Then it magically ceases to be a pistol and becomes an other.
Re: ATF Just Released Their Brace Ruling
I never understood the VFG/handstop thing. They say the reason you can't have a VFG is because a pistol is designed to be fired with one hand, so to have a handgrip would change the design to be intended to be fired with both hands. Wouldn't a handstop also be designed for two handed use? They just haven't updated their rules to include handstops and AFG yet.
Re: ATF Just Released Their Brace Ruling
Next New rule coming down the pike you must disassemble all your firearms while not in active use or in your domicile including one's in safe. Furthermore reassembly of firearms will require a licensed Armor or Gunsmith. Respect My Authority 🤗

Going by this thread, as long as it doesn't cost $200, people will gladly follow that rule too.

One-hand handgun shooting has gone the way of the Dodo bird. ATF has missed the opportunity to create a money-generating rule saying two-handed shooting with a gun designed to be fired with one hand being an illegal use of a handgun.
