Re: DOJ advises ATF to ban braces.
If they rule them Short barreled rifles and require a $200.00 stamp, the hell with the arm brace. I'll get a real stock for the formerly arm braced firearms.

Easy to do with AR 15 type. But some of the others such as an non-AR type 9mm arm braced pistols, not so much.

There is also the whole "You must notify the ATF to transport it across state lines" thing...

Same thing. Requires a $200.00 tax stamp and fingerprints and photos to be sent in. However some states may allow class three, even machineguns but not destructive devices.
Re: DOJ advises ATF to ban braces.
Let's not be hypocrites , the 'brace' is just subterfuge , or a 'loophole' around the 'SBR' paperwork.
And I swear on a 6pak of bibles/korans/torahs that 10.5" barreled upper in my parts bin has never been on any on my lowers.
:o

Hypocrites over what, following the law? Hell that letter has no legal authority it says so at the end of it. If they never said it was legal to begin with the none of us would have them.
Re: DOJ advises ATF to ban braces.
Looks like I'll be getting yet more emails from gun groups asking for more money.

with a biden administration, it'll be daily lawsuits against everything he does. GOA, FPC and others are going to have their hands full and will need our support.
Re: DOJ advises ATF to ban braces.
I am not a lawyer, but here is what i read in the 16 pages:
We, the ATF, approved arm braces for the benefit of amputee veterans. You all turned it into something dirty and twisted. Shouldering them with abandon and admitting it in print.
So, we, the ATF, are going to clamp down on the collective party, by NFAing most of the braces, in most configurations.
And we, the ATF, are going to be so understanding that you will have the option to:
1. Register it as an SBR with no tax.
2. Remove the brace and install a smooth pistol buffer tube.
3. Remove the barrel and replace with 16"+ (or pin and weld an extension?)
4. Dispose of the firearm.
Seems they are testing the waters to see what they can get away with, same as the 80% thing happening.
Sounds like I should sell my Amazon stock and buy cases of smooth pistol buffers and 16" barrels.
