I think the Sheriffs office wants you to do that.
Please let us know how this goes.
Yeah, that was something I learned for sure one of my original two reference never checked her mailbox so it was holding the process up.

Nope. NOT a legal excuse for the Sheriff to delay or deny. YOU did what the form requires by providing reference information. There is NO obligation for any reference to respond, whether they are aware of the inquiry or not.

Thanks for the advice everyone !

Many moons ago the Delco sheriff at the time of my initial application contacted both references and my employer, fortunately he was a gun guy too. Delco was called out on the employer part, as well as a few other things, and as far as I know they haven't done them in years but do still contact references for the initial app, my subsequent renewals no one was contacted.

Same here. They even wanted fingerprints. I contacted the NRA and spoke to one of their attorneys. He said he would look into it. He called back a few days later and said they will not be asking fingerprints any more. I'm up for renewal in June. Waiting to see if I get a letter in the next few weeks.

Wayne County Sheriff does. I just renewed figuring they would do the same but do not. The renewal is issued same day.
