NJ residents making the drive to PeCo for LTCF
https://www.reddit.com/r/NJGuns/comm...nv8hj/finally/
Got to work this AM to find people waiting for us to open. A lot of NJ residents visiting the Sheriff's Office for an out-of-state LTCF. We did almost 30 today and already have nearly that many scheduled for tomorrow. Looks like it's going to be a madhouse for the next few weeks.
Re: NJ residents making the drive to PeCo for LTCF
So as a New Jersey resident, what would you recommend is the most efficient ways that I go about doing this?
And when I say efficient I mean for both of us.

Sadly, I can't. I have to do it babysitting in the morning, and then deal with lawyers in the afternoon.

Call the office at 717 582-5123 to schedule an appointment.
You'll need your FID card, driver's license with current address (or proof of address update with DMV) and $20. Also helps if you download the application and have it filled out when you arrive. Saves you some time.

Should be in and out in 20 minutes assuming PICS is cooperating.

Is this something new?
Only new in the sense that my Sheriff is pro-2A and word is getting out that he'll issue out-of-state LTCFs.

Thats pretty wild, didn't know they could do something like that. Sounds like a normal, nice guy.
Bogey approved:)

I thought you needed a license to carry from your home state to qualify for a non-resident LTCF in PA?

Uh, yeh.
From PSP site:
"Persons who are 21 years of age or older and are NOT Pennsylvania residents may apply for a license. Submit a completed application for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms to any Pennsylvania county sheriff's office along with the required fee. A Pennsylvania license cannot be issued to a resident of another state who does not have a current license, permit, or similar document to carry a firearm issued by their home state."
Good luck with that if you live in NJ, NYC, or DC.

I was looking up the statute. It's under 6109 section e; subsection ix:
(
Quote:
1) A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle and shall be issued if, after an investigation not to exceed 45 days, it appears that the applicant is an individual concerning whom no good cause exists to deny the license. A license shall not be issued to any of the following:
Quote:
(ix) A resident of another state who does not possess a current license or permit or similar document to carry a firearm issued by that state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state, as published annually in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the Department of the Treasury under 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(19) (relating to definitions).
