Re: About Gun "Registration" or Transfers in PA
I bought a pistol, via internet, from another PA. resident.. He went and took his gun to his FFL dealer. The dealer, his, sent the pistol to my FFL dealer.. SHOULD there be some paper work or form with the pistol sent with info about the original owner??? ANYTHING???

The last transfer was from the local FFL to you.
Prior to that, it was from dealer to dealer. Prior to that, from the seller to his dealer.
The "sale" was between you and the seller. But your "transfer" was between your dealer and you.
Re: About Gun "Registration" or Transfers in PA
Read several pages into this thread and didn't see what I'm about to ask.
Several years ago I acquired a revolver from my brother.
He just signed off on the pistol on a piece of paper, with each of us signing
our names to it. In the meantime, over the years I ended up losing
that paper for the handwritten transfer. With that said, I don't see my
brother often since he moved. What I am wondering is, if I could legally
sell it to someone else, without having a signed transfer from my
brother? Or do I have to have another one hand written to have it transfered
to someone else at an ffl?

Was the transfer from your brother in Pennsylvania? We need more than that in PA, to have been a lawful transfer in the first place.
Regardless, you can sell to someone else through an FFL, assuming that nobody wants to argue that it's been contraband all these years, and therefore forfeitable to the state.

No, he can't. Sibling transfers are NOT an exception for handguns. Within PA, they have to go through an FFL to be lawful.

Incorrect.
Here is the rule as it is written.
Quote:
18 Pa.C.S. § 6111: Sale or transfer of firearms
(c) Duty of other persons.--Any person who is not a licensed importer, manufacturer or dealer and who desires to sell or transfer a firearm to another unlicensed person shall do so only upon the place of business of a licensed importer, manufacturer, dealer or county sheriff's office, the latter of whom shall follow the procedure set forth in this section as if he were the seller of the firearm. The provisions of this section shall not apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and grandchild.

Never be surprised if asked to cite the law. I would like to see where you found this law you quoted.
Re: About Gun "Registration" or Transfers in PA
If it happened that way then the brother broke the law transferring the handgun to a sibling. Well, unless the family tree is a tumbleweed and he's also the sibling's dad. The piece of paper they both signed is nothing more than evidence of a crime.
I assume what really happened is the brother gave the gun to a parent (legal) and the parent at some point decided to give it to the other son (legal). It happens, but it's not advisable as a way to get around the requirement because it's fairly obvious.

Sorry for not being more thorough with my question.
...Yes, my brother was and is a PA resident. And I am as well.
He bought the gun about 10yrs ago at a local gunshop. So legal transfer
was made into his name at the time. Neither he or I have a criminal background.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, Knight0334.
The way the law is written that you posted.
It looks like...
As long as the firearm is legally transferable. I being the brother of the owner
of the firearm, can go to a licensed local dealer and have it transfered
to someone else?
Just wanna make sure I'm reading it right.
