Hi!
I'm moving to Lehigh in a little bit... do I need to have Lehigh County references, or are they lenient with that?
If I need Lehigh people... does anyone want to go shooting?
Thanks!

It doesn't matter where the references are from. They could be from the county, another county, or even another state!
..........
This was awesome info - thank you! I didn't see that link when I was searching; my Google-Fu must be very weak.
This is going to be so much easier than Philly; thank God for moving.
Just so I have everything, do you guys mind helping me make a checklist for items I'll need as of now? ID, references (What do I need here? Address, name, and number?), money... anything else?
I'm sorry, and thank you in advance!

Thanks for posting this info. I would like to mention, though, that the Sheriffs cannot make up their own guidelines for issuing LTCFS. The letter could say that Santa is real, but if it is not inline with the UFA/PSP it doesn't matter.Quote:
I know that the PSP form does not specify this and technically the references can be from anywhere. However when you go to the Courthouse in the Sheriff's Office you will see the application has a cover letter which clearly states that they require the references be from PA.
IANAL, but on a practical note, the sheriff can say that the application won't be accepted with out of county references all he wants but it is not grounds for a character clause denial. If there is no other disqualifying things in one's history and one is still denied a LTCF there are grounds for a successful appeal and possibly further action for violating the UFA.
Govmule84, congrats on moving out of Philly!
It's been a while since I renewed, so for starters you will need:
1) Driver's License
2) $20 (preferably check so there is a record of when it was cashed)
3) Completed application (if available before you arrive)
4) Reference contact info (Name, address, phone number)
5) Employer's contact info (name and address, I am also pretty sure you need their phone number, but like I said, it's been a while)
Thank you for the congrats - I am very, very happy about moving out of Philadelphia. I am not a city man.
So first... employer's name and addy - do they contact them? I'd really prefer that that phone call not go to anyone who was not me.
Second... thank you guys. You're making this process really as easy as it SHOULD be. We should be in by August, and settled by September. If any of you guys wants to go shoot, I think you've earned a box of ammo on me!

In my experience, no one has ever contacted any of my employers or references. Some counties may but they seem to be the exception. The last I heard, Lehigh wasn't routinely calls references but that might have changed...
Good deal. I'll let you all know how I fare.
