Rifle spec .44mag/spl is .430"-/.432". Handgun spec is .427"-.429". And most factory ammo is .429"(handgun).
This was a topic a number of months ago, maybe a couple years ago now.
Some manufactures bore/ream their rifle barrels to rifle spec. Some to handgun spec. If you want the best performance, you'll need to know what bore you have so you can either buy/load what is best for your gun.
This is a great question I would never have thought to explore. Thanks!

Cleaning is easy. Just remove the bolt and clean like you would any rifle.
I worked up my own loads using cast 158 grain powder coated bullets. They are going almost 1800fps out of my 18.5 inch barrel. Any soft point or solid lead bullet will work. I bought Buffalo Bore (hard cast) originally, but decided to make up my own.
Nice looking rifle by the way, I'm sure it's fun to shoot.
Fun to shoot. Man, it really is. I've told a couple buddies, this is the most fun-to-shoot firearm I've owned, and that is actually a pretty high bar. Some stuff I've had, and stuff I have now, is an absolute blast.
I will say the felt recoil is really not that bad, but maybe 1-2 minutes after I set it down, my shoulder and upper arm are like "hey, something just happened here."
Re: A New Friend - Henry Big Boy .44Mag and hunting ammo question
I've only ever tried 180 and 240 grain ammo.
240 shoots where it is supposed to. 180 grain spins off into the ether, typically not even registering on paper.
It is reliable out to 60-70 yards. After that, you're throwing spit balls. But, I'm usually inside 40, so not an issue.

If you don't reload, Federal Fusion 240Gr worked great for me back when I had my Marlin 44 Mag. 1.5" @ 100 with a nice compact 2.5x scope. Shot a deer quartering away at 125 yards and found the .8" diameter bullet in the offside shoulder trying to poke through the skin. That deer made it another 25 yards. I shot another one at 50 yards with a high neck shot and it dropped right there no slug recovered.
