Please don't turn my newbie shotgun thread into another Duck Ficks thread. Please, please, please, oh pretty please, with cream and sugar on top?

Re: First Shotgun Mossberg 500 What do I need to know?
I ain't sayin' nuthin' about Dick's Sporting Goods siding with the anti-gun crown and throwing us under the bus and cancelling thousands of sales to customers waiting for their AR15s as well as screwing over an AR15 maker by shitting on the contract they signed with them. No sir, I 'm not saying any of that, nor am I saying "FUCK DICK'S SPORTING GOODS with a telephone pole!"

In all seriousness, I have found that slugs often will not work in M500's until they're broken in, because of the shape of the crimp on a slug shell.
If you find this applies to you, either wait until it's broken in or use a die grinder on the barrel extension.

I'm assuming this is a problem feeding and not firing?
My first time out with the new shotgun will probably at my local clubs trap practice with #8 shot, if I have time after Ill take it up to the target range and try buckshot and then slugs.

Yes. .
Re: First Shotgun Mossberg 500 What do I need to know?
I've had no such problem with slugs in new 500s.

Learn how to disassemble it and clean it. Many neglect to clean the action of their shotgun.
Clean it and get the grease out of it.
