reference checks in Montgomery county
I am getting ready to renew my LTCF in Montgomery county. I am wondering why they always ask for work information and references. I do not carry at my work place and prefer to keep my practice of carrying private. So I am curious why these are on the forms. Does the Sheriff department cal to verify or are these or a just in case situation? Thank you.
Re: reference checks in Montgomery county
No they will not typically call. I haven't heard of an instance where they did call a workplace or even the references you provide.
The PSP record of sale form for purchasing a handgun also has a section for employer information. But again, nothing is done with it as far as I know.
Re: reference checks in Montgomery county
Indiana County doesn't even want that portion of the application filled in on renewals.

I once heard an FFL tell a customer it really didn't matter what he put on the PSP's handgun form for his employer. He said go ahead and put NASA down if he wanted.

Ive been retired for a long time. I work a job, but I am retired.
A person could easily retire, then get re-hired shortly thereafter.
Its Bullshit that the state ask where I am employed.
They need to MYOFB.

I have never seen anyone have a problem with "N/A", "Self Employed", "Retired", or "Student".
