the lee book has a lot of odd powder and bullet combos good for these lean times
Awhile back I gifted a couple relatives, with no interest in reloading, a can of powder, some primers, bullets and a lee handloader.
They reacted as if I walked around with a tin foil cap on.
Now they understand.
They're not going to have premium loads, but they will have some ammo if needed.
For those not prepared don't forget these times. They have been occurring on and off over the years and the extent of the shortages have been increasing.
Preaching to the choir here but for those unprepared consider it when things somewhat normalize.
Just stay away from the silver gunpowder. Thats for the other side.
Ehh, I'm a bit uncertain. It won't take much to escalate this absurdity.
Not really concerned. I have plenty. But I think it's prudent to start looking many years down the road.
Thus this thread.
Even a half assed threat will hurt things.
If something rears it's head soon I don't see it doing much, since everything outside the private market is essentially gone. I think trading is now taking the place over high priced sales.
If some normality returns then a gut punch hits, it will just keep pushing everything back, and back, and back. Fast forward 5 years who knows where we will be.
It all comes down to primers. Everything else can be made or reused. This is why I always emphasized storing up a lot more primers than I actually needed. Boy am I glad I did. I'm still sitting fine with enough to last at least another 2-3 years, and I shoot 200-400 rds a week. I also netting around $6,000 in profit on Gunbroker.
To anyone pointing to black powder. It's a fun mental exercise, but it's a pipe dream. If you even remotely consider using black powder in SHTF, you need to rethink your approach. There's a reason it hasn't been used in any real application in 120+ years.
When yinz decide to cast your own bullets, keep this recipe in mind for rifle reloading.
