Looking for a decent 4x24 or 6x24 to upgrade my 4x12 diamondback on my AR10. Any suggestions?
Illuminated reticle is preferred. Rangefinder would be even better

Vortex has a lifetime warranty and vg customer service. For a budget scope, they're a good choice.
No experience with them, but I've seen a few positive reviews of their products.

I have a vortex viper pst on my 308 ar10. I think the new venom line is very similar and less expensive
Aaoptics did have some refurb vipers
I’ll look into the vipers. I love my current vortex, just wish i would have gone a bit higher than 12x max. i’m addicted to zoom, i use full power at 50yd...@300 i would probably max out a 24x
If you're always on max zoom, you could try ae fixed 16x or 20x from SWFA. They always get rave reviews and are pretty cheap compared to a variable option. You get better field of view for the magnification too.
This. A 4x24 or 6x24 scope has a large adjustment range so they are more complex does not not mean budget, just marketing. Quality optics with that (true) range cost $$$'s.
A 3x9, 4x16 scope covers just about anything and you can find some budget ones. By the time you need 20X get out your checkbook.
I like to see the bullseye from the bench.
I should just go with a 4x16 and buy a spotting scope.
Main reason im looking for 4 or 6 x24 is its cheaper than most options and i should be ok to use it out to 600-800 yards
Seeing the target and seeing the bullet hole are two different things and they do not go together (especially with budget). To see a bullet hole past 200 yards you need some quality optics. And rated magnification on any optic is the last thing you should think about and is all marketing, Blowing up a crappy image to 24X just gives you a 24X crappier image. You can find quality scopes for $1000 that just go to 12X and see $100 walmart telescopes that claim 600X magnification for $80. The 12x optics are better.
With a 9-12x you can easily see a 1 inch dot at 100 yards and know exactly where the center is. So that is 1 MOA. Can your rifle shoot 1/2 MOA? 4 inches at 800 yards? If it can spend $2000-3000 in a scope. If not and you are looking for a hunting scope look for reliability and optics quality first. Magnification last.
If you're truely addicted to zoom, my vortex golden eagle (GOLDEN EAGLE HD 15-60X52 ECR-1) is the ticket, but not sure it meets the "Budget". AAoptics has them
refurb for $1100 four or five times a year, you need to get on their mailing list to get the notifications.. I currently have mine on my 6.5cm but will move it to the ruger 338lapua once purchased. I use it as a spotting scope when I'm in a group shoot.. ;)
