GOVERNOR WOLF SIGNS HB 1188 PERMITTING HUNTING WITH THERMAL AND NIGHT VISION DEVICES IN PENNSYLVANIA!
Quote:
As I discussed in our prior article, Bill to Permit Hunting with Thermal and Night Vision Devices Headed to Governor Wolf’s Desk!, HB 1188 eliminates/deletes all of 34 Pa.C.S. 2380(b)(1)(ii); thereby, permitting the use of infrared, thermal, and other light or particle beams onto the target, unless otherwise prohibited. This is a monumental step forward in the protection of hunters, as many forms of game can or can only be taken at night and permitting the use of thermal and night vision will ensure the safety of those hunters.

Meaning it wasn't before?
News to me. I thought you were allowed to use anything that didn't project a beam of light onto the target.
Re: PA. Hunting -Thermal & Night vision now legal
There are all king of electronic restrictions in PA regarding hunting.
This will be awesome for predator hunting.
Re: PA. Hunting -Thermal & Night vision now legal
Until the PGC fucks it up with their control-freak regs.

I've wanted to hunt coyote with a PVS-14 for quite some time. This might make buying one worthwhile.
Re: PA. Hunting -Thermal & Night vision now legal
Hmmm, guess the crime rate will be dropping drastically in the cities.

Thanks OP for original post, neither I nor any of my friends heard about this. Beyond varmint hunting I guess for people in stands before sunrise you could scan with a FLIR or NV to see what*s out there.
Re: PA. Hunting -Thermal & Night vision now legal
If you use a pvs14, you will need a laser on the gun and optic on your head. Mounting a pvs14 in front of or behind a magnified optic will not give you the point of aim you think you have.
Mounting a pvs with a correct red dot sight will work, but now you limit yourself on distance of visibility.
But try it out, you may like that route.
IR illuminators will help, built into the laser unit or a stand alone flashlight, but you generally only get 100ish yards of clear target identification with green or white phosphorus monocular (go white, spend the money)
Best/ideal thing, NV or thermal hand held for scanning, and the other on the weapon.
I know im excited with this news. Like posted above, i hope the PAGC doesn't screw it up.
