Not to take away from the chromebook idea, but I run a Raspberry Pi Zero in my 2M kit. It sets up a hotspot that I use my phone or ipad to VNC into. Chirp works as does it's intended purpose of running packet radio for Winlink email. The Rpi runs on a small USB power pack.

I just got done rebuilding the battery pack for my dremel, tested and it works great!

Sure. Make sure that if they're in a plastic shell that the shell can be opened via non-destructive means. That's what really pissed me off about one of those professional battery shops. I took some drill packs in to be rebuilt one time, and the packs couldn't be opened. Instead of them just stopping there, they cut them opened and then glued them shut. I didn't catch it until I had already left and used them a few weeks later.
I don't have a big inventory yet of cells, but I'm working on getting some in of the most common types.
But if what you have tacks AA Nicads, I just got some of those in.
