Summer hunting opportunities?
I've been hunting for 16 years and have several firearm options to help control groundhog populations (.223 frangibles and LR for closer to buildings, both are suppressed ). I am looking for places to hunt them this summer. I am willing to help on farms if needed, and will respect land owner restrictions and requests. I follow a leave no trace philosophy. I would also like to take advantage of any red-tag opportunities to help feed my family. Please PM or email me if I can help in any of these areas.
Re: Summer hunting opportunities?
My wife is from Millerstown so I know the area a little (go often to the Thompsontown Diner!).
You have a good area down that way with a lot of farms.
Farmers hate hogs.
I would find some nice size farms and stop and present yourself to them just as you just did so to us - great explanation of your services to them and your awareness of firearms safety.
Even if they do not need your services, they might be able to provide the name of someone who does.
And when you stop, don't do so dressed in camo or blaze as if you are going right out to their fields.
Dress presentable so they get a good read on that first meeting, and be very respectable.
And ask them about boundry lines and how they get a long with their neighbors so you do not intrude there.
I bet you would have a lot be happy you would eliminate a big problem out in the fields.
Just a thought ...
God bless!!

And Lycoming has no shortage of places either. It is just a little far to drive to go door knocking. I know someone on another forum that shoots on several farms outside of Muncy. Thank you for the advice, I'm sure it will be helpful.
