For me opening day has lost it's allure way back when the changed the opening hour to 0800 from 0600. Back then we (the country boys) used to be there early, catch our fish, and be walking back to the car and heading to breakfast at 0730 or a bit later when the hordes (the city slickers) started showing up. After the 0800 hour became standard, I took up fly fishing as there was a fly fishing only area on the creek we fished mostly, and even on opening day, it was not as crowded.

too bad those damned city slickers wanted to catch the fish they paid for. bastards. they should know to leave them for the inbreds.

Ohhh, we left them plenty of fish to get... we just did not want to get up close and personal. (like elbow to elbow)

Good luck with that around here.

You guys are small time, I won't even fish in these PA waters.
Re: trout season now open
Sorry, girls and boys. Your fellow fisher-persons had already started fishing in the "do not fish until opening day" sections. My friends who are fly fishing only kind of people have been posting for two weeks about the scofflaws.
They fished where they weren't allowed because who was going to stop them.
It's the same with traffic scofflaws who have posted on this forum. "Yeah, I took my pickup down the blue route and hit 115 MPH...I'm the man. Who is going to stop me."
Same concept....different assholes.

They were always the assholes to walk in and stand next to you at 7:55 when you got there at 6 to get a good spot. It's really pathetic to see grown men acting like children over 8 inch trout. That's why I bought waders and hike into spots nobody else even realizes there are fish. It's surprising how far they travel in a stream after being stocked. Either that or I take out my kayak.

This is what a day of fishing looks like.

I honestly think that some of you guys would complain about having an orgasm, if somebody asked you.
I can't see trout season opening as anything but good. Hell, I wish I would have known earlier. I would have gone this evening.
It give people something to do outside, so they aren't cooped up.Plus, the weather has been much warmer than normal. It should be nice fishing very soon.

But tradition!! You can't change opening day. What about tackle shops? They are losing business. And family gatherings are now cut short because of this. This is not right,, no wonder why the ranks are thinning. The boys at the Legion said this is not tradition and is bad.
1st rifle season now this. Disgusting way to make money.
Oh and fishing camps have no time to set up. Its a travesty.
