Guy where I used to work, was torching the lids off of some empty 55 gal drums that held brake clean. He filled them up with water and poured it out first.
One of the drums went boom and took off like a rocket. It flew about 30 feet across the parking lot and smashed into the parts truck. Had no issues with the previous 15 or so using that method. He kept them full with water after that. :)

If he was doing a lot of them, maybe he forgot to purge one.

Some bottles have a large threaded neck approx. a 3in thread where the cap screws on.
Some bottles do not.
