that is exactly what happened when NY said "oh, thank you for registering, but lulz... you gotta do it again now." they saw a large amount of non compliance when the safe act began but when they required everyone to register again it really became clear... because barely anyone out of the initial group did. then they kind of let it simmer, no? backed off and never returned to the issue.
which is even more amusing considering they want to preregister you to vote as a teen and itll be good for life (and then some)
but then again, guns are an actual threat to tyranny, fucked up voting rolls are a benefit to it.

i did see that it went from like 44k registered initially to like 14k after the first round of renewal.

Actually heard this but can't remember who said it, but one of these gun grabbing Democrats actually tried to say that just because it's commonly owned does not mean that it's commonly used, when confronted with that language from Heller.
