AR-15 VS. "Target" Mini 14
Well, the jury just came in on the new "Target" Mini. Davidsons, thru my local dealer now has both in stock. The "Target" Mini sells for $808.00. For $856.00, ($48.00 more), you can buy a brand new Bushmaster ORC AR-15. (Optics Ready Carbine). Considering most all who will buy this new "Target" Mini 14 will want to scope it, it's a fair comparision. For years Mini 14 fans have touted the much lesser cost of the Mini over the AR-15. This is not the case any longer. For $48.00 the AR is a much better, and more accurate rifle. Bill T.

ROTFL!!!
Ahhh... memories.
I can't even imagine how many of those rifles were sold because of that show! Hell, I still want one!
I miss that stupid show. :o
Re: AR-15 VS. "Target" Mini 14
I read a review in a gun mag about the new Ruger Mini14 Target and was less than impressed. Supposedly it's still only capable of shooting MOA, the test gun didn't get MOA, and there's this awkward looking weight on the end that you need to move around to increase accuracy. I like to shoot, but jeebus, I don't have ALL day to shoot groups and pittle around with a weight on the end of the barrel. I wouldn't have time to weld steel plates to my truck for Christ sake.
I think the original poster was right, just go pick up a run of the mill flat top AR and be done with it. I don't think the mini 14 was ever really intended for such purposes. Ranch rifle maybe, target gun, probably not.
Still though, the Mini 14 is kinda cool. But only because of the A-team. And with the sunset of that retarded law, you can probably find the right stock to build your "A-team Mini 14 Commemorative Rifle" while watching the show on your DVD box set. Not that I'd know anything about that.

You do remember the A-team couldn't hit anything, right?
Re: AR-15 VS. "Target" Mini 14
They could if the REALLY wanted to. I mean, they were convicted of a crime they didn't commit. What kind of message would that send to 10-year-olds if they actually killed all those bad guys? :D
I think he was kidding.
Re: AR-15 VS. "Target" Mini 14
The "A-Team" was:
"Forced underground because of a crime they didn't commit. When you need help... and there is no one else to turn to... Call the A-TEAM!"
Well, if the "A-Team" was so easy to get a hold of, why didn't the cops call them and just arrest them when they showed up?? You know, like the cops do with free big screen color TV's and baseball tickets for these idiots with outstanding warrants. Bill T.

No BS, I have the A-Team theme song as my ringtone on my phone....
I'm not that big of a fan, it just sounds good! I have fond memories of watching that show as a kid. I tried watching some re-runs, but I'd rather have the memory of enjoying it was a kid than the realization of how bad it is an adult.
And no matter where they were stuck, they could always find some welding torches and some hose clamps to build an impromtu tank with improvised weapons.
