    Default Self Defense Spray

Does anyone know if any gun shop (or any other shop) in the Pittsburgh/Butler/Greensburg area carries "professional grade" OC/pepper spray? Also, which brand has the best real world reputation? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I've heard great things about Kimber's Guardian Angel series.

I have the two-shot one and I'm pretty confident it would disable someone pretty effing rather quick.

The thing that convinced me to buy it, were the words of some crazy dude on another forum (he even had pics and video proof!, wish I had the link).

Thing is he wanted to train himself to become immune to it, so he'd spray his own face a little bit every day. After a while, his tolerance grew and it seemed to start working. At which point he tried the Guardian Angel, feel to the floor, cried for several minutes, and realized the experiment wasn't worth it.

thats what it looks like. Note that the person holding it can probably palm their entire head. I thought it would be a bit smaller, but its not too uncomfortable to clip to your pocket, unless you already carry a bunch of crap on you.

I use Bodyguard brand and have for years. I have used it dozens (and dozens) of times.

Be safe (and remember, it is the bug spray that really works).

i have to be the bad guy here. when i was in the military we had to get pepper sprayed to get qualed to be qrf. i'm not talking about the gas chamber but pepper spray. pepper spray or cs gas will not work on everbody. each person has a different threshhold of pain. i know big guys who dropped like a rock and small guys that did'nt bat an eye when it came to pepper spray or cs. my personel experience was i got sprayed on my eyebrow(bad aim) and expected it to hurt like hell. to my suprise it did'nt and i ran through the course hitting the bags feeling like john rambo. after i was done i opted out of the getting the sprinkler on my face thinking "damn i'm bad" but when the sweat rolled down into my eyes i was completed incapacitated. even after trying to blink my eyes rapidly to get a strobe effect as to what was going on i was still worthless. my personel opinion is that pepper spray will not save your life. it will only give you a false sense of security. with a gun all you have to do is hit center mass. with pepper spray you have to hit them in the eyes when they are open and take your chances. besides, if you have a gun you will at some point practice with it. if you have pepper spray you will probably never try to spray it until you really need it.

Who said the question was pepper vs. gun. Would you let your 12 year old daughter carry a gun?

OP, Fox labs is the best.

I'd also like to get some smaller OC spray units because my wife doesn't like the Kimber.(not compact enough)

Really, my 10 yo Son has his own. Do you know where it is a violation? Butane, alcohol, tobacco and even indelible markers are no go for minors. I never really looked, because I do not really care, he keeps the OC, but a quick search and I could not find it.

Be safe (and give the 10 yo a Kel-tec PF9 as well).
