Exclamation Please give me a recommendation!

I am soon to make my first purchase with a C&R license. I want to purchase the best looking, most utilitarian, and cheapest C&R gun that I can. I have no C&R guns currently. I was thinking SKS, TT-33, or M-38 Swede. (I don't believe Makarov's or P-63's are in the C&R classification.

Can you, especially if you have bought one already, offer me a suggestion? Maybe a link?

Thanks, I am excited to join the "crufflers"!

This baby just hit the CR list a month ago. They were made from 82-92 so it's definately the newest CR i've ever seen. I plan on getting one as soon as I have the cash. 9x18mm packs a fairly powerful punch too. That'd be my suggestion.

If not this then a Czech CZ 52. 7.62x25 is a very powerful round. Plus it functions with the roller-locking, recoil operated design. http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/C...25_Pistol.html

Makarovs are C&R, the PA63s and Polish P64s are not. An SKS would be a good first. The Swede Mausers are great, 6.5 ammo is getting pricey and harder to find though. An SKS smothered in cosmo is good, you can get familiar with it while you clean. Stick with the configuration it came with, and you'll be fine.

I don't have a C&R license, but I am hooked on surplus after buying my Yugo SKS this past Christmas.

Here's a link with pics showing all the beautiful Cosmoline!

I paid $120 (sale at Dunhams) for mine

I got to shoot a Mosin Nagant M44 yesterday. Boooooooom!
Wow! I need one of those too!
These are even less expensive than the SKS.

A C&R license is an FFL to buy firearms on the BATF C&R list. They can be certain military surplus weapons, commemeratives, unique firearms, engraved, etc. and the list goes on. There are some great buys out there. If you want a rifle I think an SKS is a really good deal. The CZ 52 pistol is a great deal. Ammo is fairly cheap and it is a hoot to shoot.
I do not believe all Makarovs are C&R eligible. Maybe only the Russian ones. I do not know how Aim is selling the "new" CZ pistol as a C&R. If you do get one on the C&R please let us know.
A few years ago I ordered one of the Russian .22 bolt rifles that listed as C&R eligible. I ordered one and waited. After a few weeks I called and was told they were not certified as C&R weapons.
An added plus is that many outfits give you a dealer discount on their products.
Cost is $30.00 for three years.

Mosin Nagant M44? I've seen 'em for as low as $49.00.

Get the SKS, and you soon will be searching for an AK. Not a bad thing. I love the SKS and it is a great shooter. www.aimsurplus.com delivers what they advertise. I have used them several times and have always been pleased with my selection. I do think the "hand pick" option is a waste. Just an FYI, please contact Brownell's and Midway USA and get them your C and R info. You will now receive dealer pricing there. That alone is worth the $30. fee for the license. Also check out Southern Ohio Gun and J & G sales along with Century Arms. The flyers will come and are always good bathroom material. Prepare yourself to vomit at the next gun show, when you see a bunch of M38s or M44s with Aim tags on them and the joker at the table wants $125 a piece for them......Oh, one other thought, buy a bigger safe. LOL.
