BEST 9mm striker fired pistol for strictly range fun?
Hi,
I am in NJ, so carry or cancelled carry in NOT a possibility for me. With that said, I am looking for a great 9mm striker fired pistol that will be great fun at the range for target shooting and maybe
even some light fun competition if I get to that point. I read that if the gun IS NOT going to be sure self defense, a lighter trigger is ideal for the range.
I am looking at the FNH FNS-9, the Glock 17, the S&W M&P, the Walther PPQ and the HK VP9. Although, I am not sure about the PPQ and VP9, BOTH are just so hideous looking and toyish and plasticy
looking, its hard for me to get past that. They both, but especially the PPQ, look like something you would find at Toys R Us.
Please note that I am a lefty and 15 round magazine limit in NJ!
All suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

My 2cents... if you go with a glock.. go G19 gen 4.. 15 round mags standard .. and 10/17/33 also the gen 4 has the magazine catch, that is changeable in seconds, to accommodate left or right-handed operators ... The G17 has 10/17 & 33 round Mags only

Another vote for the gen 4 Glock 19. If you go full size and Glock, the 22 in .40 also holds 15. All .40 Glocks can also run 9mm with conversion barrels, which would also be fine for less expensive ammo at the range.
Also, move to PA. Saved my wife from that state, she agrees it's the best move she ever made, lol.

No, the Glock 19 is TOO small for my hand! My pinky finger fall off, the G17 fits PERFECTLY.

Re: BEST 9mm striker fired pistol for strictly range fun?
From personal experience I'd remove the M&P 9 and add the CZ75B. While the M&P operates like an oiled machine, the CZ75 has a steel frame, has a better trigger, and is much more accurate (measured from a rest) than the standard M&P.
If appearances matter, I'd have to remove the Glocks from my own list . . . though all plastic they remind me of zip guns we made as kids out of 2 pieces of 2x4 (plus broken auto antennas and windshield wiper blades). But they shoot pretty good, so there's that. And don't look at the Beretta 92FS (or the 96 if you want a rail) . . . most people find them just too attractive lol. IMO they shoot well too.

I'm sure the PPQ is an excellent gun, its just ugly as sin and so damn cheap looking. I just cant get past that for some reason. Just looks like a cheap plastic toy, as least to my eyes anyway.

I vote for the HK VP9, ergonomics are excellent and great trigger. I was looking for a striker fired 9mm and compared it to the Block 19 and the Sig p320. The VP9 fits my hand like a glove.
