Hello - Trapshooters. A little help please!
I iused to be a very avid trapshooter way back when. Then along came my daughter and my life became consumed with her. She has now gone off to college and I would like to get back into the sport. I still belong to Clairton Sportsmen Club, but I understand trap is dying there and skeet is taking over. Does anyone know of local southwest PA clubs that have open trap practice in the evenings? I hope it's still alive and well at some clubs. Thanks in advance!

Ambridge has the oposite, skeet seems to have died out, and trap took over, go figure..
Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.

My father-in-law belonged to Clairton and he now belongs to Monongahela. They shoot trap on Thursday nights at 6PM. They are a really laid back bunch of guys and a lot of fun to shoot with, especially if you are just getting back into it.
I have shot there many times.
Don't know where you live, but Pitcairn Monroeville Sportsman's club, where I belong, has some of the nicest facilities I have seen. Saturdays at 10AM for trap practice. I'll be there. Please note that trap is closed 3/31 because we are hosting the Boy Scouts Camporee for the weekend.

Aliquippa Bucktails is open to the public on Wed and Fri evenings. Get a Sunday Post Gazette and check out the listings for local shots in the sports section...last time I looked, I was surprised at how many places there were.
