S&W SDVE

Can someone talk to me about this model? I'm interested in getting a S&W 9mm, then I see this model for much less than the MP. I've checked the specs- interested in hearing from anyone that's shot one. Thanks.

Reliable. Accurate. Trigger sucks. Can be made to suck less....but still kind of sucks. The M&P is worth the extra coin for most new shooters in my opinion.

Lycanthope pretty much said it all, I have the S&W SD 40 VE as a range companion to my Glock 22. I have put about 8 boxes of cast reloads through mine with no problems. The gun is very accurate once you get use to the crappy trigger pull. The S&W seems to have more felt recoil than my Glock.

Had a 9mm briefly, hated it. Trigger pull is miserable and unpredictable. They feel incredibly cheap. I rate them as the second worst factory made pistol on the market today.

If you're going to cheapout on a pistol there are much better options .

While my experience is with the .40 and not the 9 mm, I didn't like the SW SDVE.

A co-worker of mine has the .40 version. I have an FNS-40. There is no comparing the two guns. Admittedly, the FNS is nearly twice the price of an SD VE.

Basically, you get what you pay for with firearms. For its price, it's a decent gun. However, do not expect it to come near higher quality guns in performance.

If you can afford the M&P, it's a no brainier to choose over the SDVE.

I owned the predecessor to the SDVE called the Sigma 9VE. Traded it 3mos later. No functional problems with it at all. What I really wanted was a .45... just couldn't afford it at the time. Trade-in value of the Sigma stunk like yesterday's diapers.

The only downside to the M&P is that you should buy new. Smith won't honor their "lifetime" warrantee if you aren't the original owner. A member here recently ran into that issue.

Bought one as my first semi-auto handgun. Has a shit ton of rounds through it with no issues, but as stated before the trigger is meh, and for the extra money, you'll be glad you got an M&P
