Took my 11yr old daughter shooting!
I took my daughter shooting today! It was her first time with a 9mm Glock 26. She did so well that I had to post about it! She wanted to keep a spent shell casing and one of the targets that we both used as souvenirs of our day out... which included a trip to Barnes and Noble for some books for her, and lunch at her favorite place.
As I was starting to post this, she said "wait... you HAVE to post my target". So here it is: At 15 feet (most of the shots are her's with a little help from Dad in the center) She loaded and then fired only one at a time.
BTW, she also won her school's spelling bee this week! She was the first student to sweep all grades of elementary school (grades 1,2,3,4 and now 5) and she also won the local Rotary spelling bee which incompassed 9 elementary schools comprised of 3 school districts. Such a beautiful and smart kid! I'm so lucky.Last edited by Nic; April 14th, 2012 at 05:46 PM.

Rep sent for being an awesome dad. And give your daughter a high five for me for being a good shot!

LMAO -------- You should have asked your daughter to check the spelling of your posting...... (Must take after her Mom!?!?!)
Really --- It's great to hear the stories of parents helping their kids understand the rights and responsibilities of gun ownership and preparing them for self-defense...
Incoming Riputation.......

Sounds like you're raising a great daughter. Your daughter is one lucky little girl to have a dad like you.
We have 4 generations shooting now. The 5th generation 1 1/2 yrs got his first nerf gun for Christmas (also ear/eye protection) and has started being introduced to gun safety.
It's one of the few things we all have incommon and look forward to. Many happy/proud family moments over the years and to come.

Glad to see parents teaching children that guns are a tool and not evil and bad and voodoo. Nice target too.

Oh thanks everyone, she's my pride and joy! Yes, she gets her spelling from Mom!
And she had to be talked out of taking her spent shell to school with her! So she sent a picture text to her friends! lol
