    Default Cabella's $25 deal

I just got back from a trip to Cabella's. They are doing a $25 off purchase for applying and being approved for a Cabella's Visa credit card. Additional $10 off if card is used outside Cabella's 5 times in 30 days from approval date.

I don't know if it is today only or what, maybe the web site would have more info if it's something any of you want to go look in to.

All I know is it paid for a box of Corbon 9mm +P

I haven't seen this offer before. I go to Cabella's once in a while. (Last time I was there they had the NRA promo.) It's not the best credit card in the world APR wise, but it's not a bad deal either. I wouldn't have bothered if it was a store credit card.

Free money is good enough reason for me when there are no contracts or annual fee's. A couple minutes of your time, shop, pick up card and pay. Cancel later if so inclined.

Sorry if this is old news, I just thought I'd throw it out there for the ones that may be interested.

Just my opinion... Be careful about opening and then canceling credit cards, for whatever the reason. It dings your credit score. Not a lot but these days credit reporting agencies are looking for any excuse to collect bad information on you. It's how they make their money.

What JohnFritz said. It is never a good idea to sign up for CCs you don't need, just for a few $$$ off.

The "ding" comes because one of the major factors in the FICO score is the ratio of debt to credit. If you open then close, these ratios change and it becomes a "red flag". As Noah's Zak said, for a few bucks, not worth the potential downsides. Dave_n

pretty much why i said its not worth 25 bucks, if it was 20 percent off a 2000 dollar purchase, or interest free for 18 months.

to fill out a credit card and cancel it is very bad for your credit.

Just to clarify, I wasn't directing my comment at anyone, just wanted to throw the info out there. That point I made, some years ago I did not know that. I got dinged by the exact thing I warned about here.
