Anyone else planning to participate in the GSSF match?

I won't be there, but since I'm the Topton FGA website guy, I figured I'd plug the info we have up there as well.

I was there today. First gssf match. They were overwhelmed. There were 700 shooters over the two days with 300+ today. It took 2.5 hours to get my first stage, another hour for the second stage, and almost 2 more for the third.
Bitching aside, it was fun. I am not a fan of the "put an x next to your name and you are up" thing they do, when the person who puts the X is not at the stage. That person should get bumped to the bottom of the list, IMHO.
Met some good people and watched some good shooters.
I did my normal middle of the road shooting.
Will do another.

Yeah, I've been participating in 1 or 2 matches (PA and in the past MD) most years for 10+ years and Saturday was by far the longest I've waited to complete the stages (about 5 hours).
One of the RO's who was squadding complained about people Xing their name and then leaving the stage. Apparently someone was being called at the next stage over who was Xed just a little ahead of me. They need to figure out some better way of tracking who's where and ought to penalize line-jumpers. (One RO half-joked it should be a 1,000 second penalty, and I'm a bit sympathetic to that, but people do make mistakes.)
They also need more shooting stations set up for each stage, but I don't know if Topton has the space available to do so.I am not a lawyer. Nothing I say or write is legal advice.

Re: GSSF at Topton Fish & Game 8/16/14 & 8/17/14
This was without a doubt the most poorly run shooting event I have ever been to.
I arrived at 9:00 Sunday, finally got registered by 10:00, went and signed up at the shooting bays and then sat. and sat. and sat. At 12:30 having not even fired a round of ammunition I gave up, went back to registration, got a refund, and drove the hour and a half home.
I shoot USPSA, IDPA, and Steel Challenge. Never in my life have I seen such a cluster. I don't blame the RO's. I am an IDPA RO and help out running the nook and score USPSA so I know the work they put in. It has nothing to do with the personnel, the system is broken. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that the ranges I was on in the Army were more efficiently run.
The (I assume) match director was nice enough to stop me and talk to me as I left. He said they had a larger than expected turnout and were going to be giving away a lot of prizes. I appreciate him taking the time, but I just couldn't sit around anymore. Two and a half hours without firing a shot is stupid. I could have went to my local club and set up some practice stages to work on some things. That was three hours of driving and three and a half hours of sitting around on a beautiful Sunday that I wish I could have back.

I saw somewhere that there were over 700 shooters. That's crazy

I'm not sure I understand what I'm reading--was registration not limited and/or done in advance? Or does GSSF just not work that way?
