I've had a few people over the last few weeks mention this problem and I've done something that I think might help.
after researching the issue online I found that it happens most frequently to users that use AOL or other similar mass-dialup Internet Service Providers because of the way their proxy servers work which causes ones IP address to change frequently. The vBulletin system, for security reasons, will log people out if their IP address changes too much. What I've done is increased the lee-way vBulletin gives to IP address changes in the hopes that it will solve this issue. If you are still having this problem going forward please post here and let me know so I can keep digging.

Better yet, get rid of AOL as your ISP.

I guess it also happens with Comcast as well as AOL.
Danp, have quite a few people brought this to your attention? This has been happening with me since I joined and it also happened for the few weeks i switched to verizon and back to Comcast so I thought the site was set up to do this. 27

if this shows up, then the problem is somewhere in the "QUICK REPLY" SYSTEM. have had problems every time i try to reply useing that. (just now saw the "post reply" button, duh)
each time i click to post reply with the quick reply it tells me i am not allowed to do this, refresh page and sign in first. if i just go to another page i am still logged in, but if i refresh i am logged out |

I believe I've solved this issue.
The forum was set to log people out after 15 minutes of inactivity. I've upped this to 30 minutes to allow time to type out longer posts.
