    Default Open Carrying in Philadelphia

I have an out-of-state concealed carry permit from Virgina. Is this permit sufficient enough to allow for open carrying in Philadelphia? I'm kind of weary of doing it anyway but seeing as how I don't have my holster yet I was wondering.

Woah, woah, woah. If you do not have a holster you really should not be carrying at all. This is my opinion, yet it is based on practical experience. Even pocket carry without a holster is dangerous.

A good holster will cover the trigger guard so as to prevent touching the trigger while the weapon is in the holster. The best holsters I have seen are from Rob Leahy at www.simplyrugged.com The sourdough is perfect for carry revolvers and the Cuda is awesome for autoloaders.

I think what the OP meant was that if he could OC in Philly it would determine what kind of holster he would buy. He obviously is leaning to OC but in the event that he was not able to OC in Philly he would then purchase an IWB instead. Just my guess....

    Whoa Nellie.....

IANAL but IIRC the federal school zone issue is kinda up in the air. I believe the federal act states you are exempt with a permit issued from the state in which the school is located. The VA permit may not provide you with the exemption necessary to avoid prosecution. With that being said, be careful of your surroundings regarding wandering into a school zone unknowingly.

OC in Philly sounds like a good way to get harassed by the police. in fact i was told by the Chester county deputy that processed my LCTF that i should be cautious when carrying in Philly.

Needed or not, an LTCF would help you keep things simple. Get one.
