    Default Beginners skeet?

Are there any ranges in and around Pittsburgh that welcom beginners to skeet shooting?
I just acquired a 20ga and wanted to take a crack a shooting skeet or trap. 20ga is good for that right?

I think like all other shooting sports just about everywhere you go is gonna welcome you and shot you the way...

Cant help to notice your from ambridge though, the skeet master Frenchy is also from there i'm sure you wouldn't have to twist his arm to hard to get a few outings with him to show you the way....

    Hey MelD,
Welcome to the sport of SKEET! Haha... it's loads of fun, and I am sure you're gonna have a good time. People use anything between a 12ga to a 410 for skeet... so 20ga is just fine =)

    I use a 20 gauge - only cuz I don't like the kick on the 12.

You'll be fine. Skeet is fun cuz you can see right away if ya hit or not.

Most use a 12 ga for trap but from the 16 yard line, a 20 will break them well enough...maybe use the modified choke tube.
There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.

Just to rub SKEET shooters the wrong way, I'll tell you that "trap" shooting is more of a challenge . Most clubs in Pittsburgh have "trap" practices open to the public and a 20 gauge works fine. Typically it cost $5 for two rounds of "trap" (50 birds). SKEET is typically double the cost.
We hold "trap" practice SAT at 10am and Sun at 1PM at: http://www.pmsconline.com/

The old timers love to help out the new guys so be prepared!

I've only had the chance to try trap once or twice but I'd like to do that as well. 5 stand also looks fun. Thanks Hawk !!

Me and Frenchy tried to get together once, but our schedules never matched up and at the time I didn't have a shotgun.

Now I have a Mossberg 500 bantam I got in a trade. I haven't even shot it at a sheet of paper yet. It's my first shotgun so I have some learning to do. I do get the general idea of the different choke. I have a full and a modified for sure and I'm not 100% sure what's in the barrel right now.

And I have a TON of ammo so I'm ready to go.

Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.
