Life of suppressor?
I searched for this but, couldn't really find the answer...
Is there a length of life of a suppressor? I mean, do the baffles start to wear or anything after awhile that would require it to be sent back and refurbished?
I wouldn't think so(other than cleaning), but then again, I'm no expert on suppressors...III%

Re: Life of suppressor?
It all depends on the host, caliber, barrel length, suppressor model, semi/full auto, etc.
There is no definite answer.
A take apart 22lr can should last your entire life time.
A 7.5" SBR AR15 with a mediocre can might only last few thousands rounds on full auto fire.

Re: Life of suppressor?
It will go on an ar-15 (5.56) Not decided on which one yet exactly.. But just for the sake of it, lets just go with... a YHM Phantom QD comp

Re: Life of suppressor?
Assuming a 16" barrel and semi auto fire, it will last a very long time. At least 20K rounds.
The YHM Phantom does have a SS core, which is NOT as tough and durable as an AAC M4-2000, which has an Inconel core.
YHM offers a lifetime warranty, so if you ever have a problem they will fix it free of charge.
When deciding on a suppressor, there are a few things that you need to consider (weight, cost, materials, length, etc). After deciding which one of those is the most important, you can pick the best suppressor that suits your needs.

Since YHM has a lifetime warranty, does that mean that if it is just worn out from shooting, they will replace/fix it? Or is it just from defects/other problems?III%

Re: Life of suppressor?
You will shoot up waaaay more money in the cost of ammo than the price of a new can.
Here is some info from Silencertalk.com
It has some relevence to your question. More of a "see what abuse these go thru" kinda post. These are for an SBR with a can application, but still usefull/interesting pictures.
You need to be a member to see anything so i just copied the text and pics. The info is from Bryon at Major Malfunctions.

For a while now I've been recommending to customers that if they're going to run their 5.56 can on an SBR AR, then you NEEEEEED to run a muzzle brake QD mount with it (instead of a flashhider QD mount).
The brake will act as a kind of "pre blast baffle" and absorb & redirect a lot of the punishment that suppressor's blast baffle would otherwise have to take on a 10.5" AR.
These pics show just how much punishment the brake absorbs. This brake was brand new and the errosion in the pics resulted after only 300-400 rounds (notice the severe errosion around the first chamber of the brake and there's even significant errosion on the second chamber).
Here's what the blast baffle of the can that was run with the brake looks like (a LOT better than the brake):
And also for comparison, here's a brake off of one of our 12.5" guns (notice how much better it looks than the brake off of the 10.5" gun?):

Re: Life of suppressor?
Other than shooting it religiously, there will be no abusing.
So.. now that we're to this point...
What are some good 5.56 suppressors? (There's some scattered all over the site, but it would be nice to have them all in one place )
Approximately $500 (without stamp)
Will be shot through a LOT...
Thanks for the help guys!III%
