Exclamation Constable told my friend OC is illegal...lol

So was out at a car meet tonight and was talking to one of my friends. He is a mechanic and a PA Constable is one of his customers. He had gotten into a discussion with said Constable about OC and the Constable told him that if you have a "permit" to carry concealed that you must do so. He told my friend that OC in Pennsylvania was illegal.

I then informed my friend tonight of the real deal about OC and pointed him in the right direction...to this site. I didn't have any fliers on me but was OC'ing at the time. I also asked him to figure out which office that this Constable was working out of so I could call them and let them know that their Constables (or at least one of them) are giving out misinformation.

So tonight, I got to inform my first person about the wonderful life of Open Carry.

    What else is new?

It's worth noting in act 44 training you're taught OC lawful and not to harass people about it.

Apparently a lot of gun shop owners also believe OC is unlawful.

Here's a list of folks you may not want to ask about firearms laws:

    • Sheriffs
    • Constables
    • Police
    • Gun Shop Owners
    • Phil Collins
    • Sarah Brady
    • Any NFL or NBA player [per wa3ra's advice]

You forgot to add that most gun owners do not know OC is legal too.

I've heard that more than once.

Since Constables really work for themselves unless they're a deputy constable and there are apparently relatively few of those, you'd likely be talking to him.

And let me take that a step further and say that most people in general don't know OC is legal regardless of their occupation or hobby/interests.

    That is true.

However here in PA we don't have permits to carry concealed.

Also, do not ask the workers at your local recycling center.

I have had to correct a few Constables at various trainings about various gun laws. Unfortunately, we are not immune from the "thinking we know the law" that many other humans have.
