Longest shot I ever made on a deer (well over 40 total) was 95 paces with an Ithaca deerslayer and Ballistic research industries sabot. (most deer under about 60 yds with .06)

I have hit COM shots on an IDPA target with Glock 23 at 100yds offhand.


Some very impressive hits you all have had.

At least no one started their response with the statement "This is no bullshit"which somehow always makes me suspect.

I guess my longest rifle would be 300m pop-ups for BRM with an M16 and an M4. I'd love to try some longer shots at actual targets though. You guys impress me...feel like teaching? I just need to talk my wife into a rifle first...

About 750yards with my 45-70 for me on an iron plate. Had to hold-over much like the artillery above.

300 yards with a friends ar-15 while I was visiting family in AZ. The 12" steel gong was pretty easy, Not so much with the 6" one. I rarely shoot past 100 locally.

500m, prone position, M16A1, open sights, head shots on the silhouette target. Perfect shooting weather.

Okay, this happened many moons ago.......probably round '80-'81.....when I was in the USMC. It was on pre-qual day and I had the dope all set up on my rifle for the next day (official qualification).

I fired my last five rounds at the head of the target and got all hits. Of course I got yelled at by my Sgt for doing so,........we were supposed to aim COM on the target.

Now, I don't shoot more than 100 yards with a rifle
