repainting cz82 sights
I got my "new" cz82 from aimsurplus. It is in amazing/like new condition, but the sites are pretty faded. I've never painted sites before, but I found some fluorescent paint that comes highly recommended. I heard that using rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush is the best way to clean/prepare the sights for painting. What tool have you guys found is the best for applying paint to the sights? They are so tiny that I don't want to end up with a massive blob of paint all over the post.
-Thanks

Re: repainting cz82 sights
Any paint you use is going to wear off pretty quickly, that is why I do not paint sights. However, if you insist on doing so take a trip to your local hobby store and get the smallest detail brush you can find for painting models. It should only run about three bucks, and you can reuse it if you clean it off with paint thinner after the job. Make sure you prep the surface and have at it.

Re: repainting cz82 sights
Thanks for the info. It sounds like I will need to be prepared to repaint my sites periodically. http://glowinc.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=2
That is the paint I was going to use, and seal it with nail polish.

Re: repainting cz82 sights
I prefer a tooth pick or a needle over a paint brush..I tried using a paint brush to paint the dots on my keltec and it ended up being a big PITA...you may have to fill in the dots several times. when I filled mine, the paint was drying with holes in the center, but it's a cheap and easy solution for sights.

Re: repainting cz82 sights
I took the plunge yesterday and ordered a cheap box of nitesiters. I intend to put them on my PF9 and my CZ82 if they work. Will keep everybody informed.

What he said. For any fine detail work something fine and rigid has many advantages over a brush.
Now that you ordered new sights you can experiment with the old ones, give it a try.
(You may want to thin the paint a little bit to avoid the "blobbing" effect regardless of which type of application tool you use, depending on the consistency).

Re: repainting cz82 sights
Wipe down with a little alcohol and apply paint with a toothpick. Apply 2-3 coats. I've used this method for several guns (yes a CZ82) and it works just fine. Also, Bright Sights is the paint I used and its been on there now for about 3 years and I've had no problems with it at all.
